SUCCESS: I’m delighted the Government have announced they will be ending the viability assessment loophole, which allowed developers to avoid building affordable homes. In the last year this practice allowed developers to avoid building over 200 affordable houses in Bristol. I raised the injustice of this a number of times in Parliament, and I’m delighted to see that the Government has listened. I hope the new National Planning Policy Framework will support sustainable house-building, which includes affordable and social housing.
