I am deeply concerned that the UK is falling behind in efforts to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050, which it is legally required to do under the 2008 Climate Change Act. I feel very strongly we must redouble our efforts to meet our global emissions targets to prevent future generations having to deal with some horrifying future scenarios– such as those set out in the landmark report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released today.

I recently signed a joint letter to the Government asking that it sets a net-zero emissions target by 2050, in line with the target to keep global temperatures below 1.5 degrees, which you can read by following the link below.
