Chris Skidmore MP, whose constituency of Kingswood borders my own, was recently made Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation. I wrote to congratulate him on his new post and remind him of some of the key issues for Bristol that now fall under his remit – such as reinstating maintenance grants and NHS bursaries, working with university leaders to support students with their mental health, and replacing research funding for institutions post-Brexit – with the hope that he will act to address them.
