The Government is set to deport up to 50 British residents to Jamaica, some of whom have never set foot there before. Others have been here since they were children, or are parents to children who are British citizens. The Government seems to have learned nothing from the recent Windrush scandal, where people who had made their lives in the UK were wrongly removed, detained or stopped from re-entering the country.

I have signed this letter to the Home Secretary calling for the mass deportations to be halted, and for each case to be considered carefully on its own merits. This follows an Urgent Question in Parliament today, where the Minister gave a disappointing response.
