It was a pleasure to join the Avon Wildlife Trust in Parliament and hear from some of the inspiring young people who are part of the ‘Our Bright Future’ programme. The project is bringing together the youth and environmental sectors to discuss the key changes young people want to see for the environment and their lives.

At the reception, I discovered that four out of five children feel disconnected from nature, which is a real shame. I fully support the project’s call for schools to have at least one hour per day of lesson time outdoors, allowing our young people the opportunity to develop a stronger connection with the natural world.
