Kerry McCarthy Labour MP for Bristol East
During yesterday’s Housing debate, I raised the shortage of accessible homes for disabled people after disability groups in Bristol contacted me about this. Recent research shows that there are at least 1.8 million households which require access features or other adaptations, and not enough newly-built houses are accessible.
Everyone should be able to have a safe, secure, and appropriate place to call their home. In our Green Paper on Housing, Labour has said that we will build adapted homes for older and disabled people, and I hope that the current Government will do the same.
