This morning, I held a debate on the recent report from the Children’s Future Food Inquiry (CFFI), which, over the past year, has been talking to young people about their experiences of food insecurity. I’d like to thank the children who contributed to the Inquiry, the people who contacted me to provide evidence, and the MPs who were involved in the Inquiry and spoke in today’s debate.

I’m disappointed that the Children’s Minister Nadhim Zahawi did not acknowledge the damaging impact of his Government’s policies on driving food poverty, particularly the continued rollout of the flawed Universal Credit system. In Britain in 2019, no child should have to go hungry or be forced to suffer an unhealthy diet.
