I’m delighted to be supporting my 8-year-old constituent, Edie, and her campaign to stop McDonald’s giving away plastic toys with their Happy Meals. Single-use plastic and non-recyclables are finding their way into our seas and oceans and having a devasting impact on sea life such as whales, turtles and fish. By 2050 there is expected to be more plastic in the world’s oceans than fish.
We need to discourage unnecessary use of plastic wherever possible and ensure that when plastic is used, it can be easily recycled. Edie knows this, and I hope you can show her that you do too, by supporting her petition below.
