It was recently Kinship Care Week, a brilliant opportunity to raise awareness and understanding of kinship care, and the challenges kinship carers face. They save local authorities massive amounts of time and money, yet sadly, research by the Family Rights Group has found that many kinship carers find it very difficult to access appropriate support for the children they look after.

I am proud to be a member of the Parliamentary Taskforce on Kinship Care, which works to address these issues, and to ensure that children and their kinship carers have all the help and guidance they need.
