Yesterday I contributed to a Westminster Hall debate on bovine TB in cattle and badgers. In my intervention I highlighted the excellent badger vaccination programme that is being rolled out by the Avon Wildlife Trust and the ridiculous situation we now find ourselves in where healthy badgers, that have been vaccinated, could be culled. Here in Avon, a minimum of 1,297 badgers will be culled this season – even though the Government has still provided no evidence whatsoever to prove this cruel slaughter has any significant impact on reducing TB in cattle.
