Today is Holocaust Memorial Day and 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp, where over 1 million people were killed by the Nazi regime. It is so important we remember the victims of genocide, reflect on the treatment and dehumanisation of those who suffered, and vow that this must never happen again.

This year’s theme, chosen by the Holocaust Education Trust is “stand together”, and in Bristol we are marking it with a free public event, hosted today at City Hall.
