As autumn approaches it’s a lovely time to be out and about in Bristol’s parks.

I recently joined Heather and Richard from The Woodland Trust, the conservation charity, on an urban tree walk through east Bristol, looking at new tree-planting, urban orchards and regenerative tree growth. I was particularly excited to be shown this beautiful beech tree in Eastville Park, which is officially classed as a veteran tree on the national database.

Bristol City Council has committed to doubling its tree canopy by 2050, helped by tree-planting projects like the Woodland Trust’s “Free trees for schools and communities” campaign.
