Last Friday, as part of my role as Labour’s Shadow Minister for Green Transport, I visited Plymouth with Labour’s Shadow Environment Secretary, Luke Pollard, to find out how Britain is leading the world in green maritime technology.

I travelled on one of the EcoCity CNG buses, visited the fantastic Oceansgate hub for marine-based businesses and got to drive the UK’s first sea-going electric ferry!

There is so much potential here for the UK to lead the global push towards net zero emissions in our maritime sector, and I am looking forward to working with the industry to ensure more progress is made.
