Despite the Chancellor’s belated move to fix some of the gaps in his financial support schemes, jobs in my constituency are still at risk.

Exhibitions companies in Bristol missed out on the initial support schemes, and many of them will have to fold if the Government doesn’t step in. In March, the Chancellor said in the House of Commons that exhibitions companies would be eligible for the grant. They weren’t, and judging from his response, he doesn’t seem to know that.

I asked the Chancellor if he would commit to meeting with representatives of the sector to discuss their situation. Sadly, he didn’t agree – probably because it doesn’t offer as good a photo opportunity as his recent stunt at Wagamama’s.
