Kerry McCarthy Labour MP for Bristol East
Following on from my recent letter – to which I am still awaiting a reply – I asked the Government to get back to the negotiating table to remove the new three stop limit for hauliers working on EU music tours and other events. Unless this is sorted, European tours will become virtually impossible.
After a devastating year for the live music industry, we cannot allow Brexit bureaucracy to stop the hoped-for recovery of the sector before it’s even begun.
The Minister’s answer was very muddled, and her claim that 95% of hauliers would be happy with the new rules will offer little comfort to those that don’t just go point to point, but at least she confirmed that discussions on this issue would continue, and I will keep applying pressure until a cultural exemption to the rules is negotiated.
