I recently wrote to the Government about new Brexit rules which will be devastating for UK hauliers involved in the events sector, as they severely limit movements around the European Union. This could make it almost impossible for musicians to tour Europe.

The response I received back was one of the worst I’ve ever seen in my time as an MP. The Minister – Baroness de Vere – didn’t appear to know nor care about this issue. She didn’t answer a single question, or mention the new rules, and she didn’t suggest any way forward for those affected.

I will be writing to demand an apology and a personal response from the Secretary of State, setting out how the Government will support the music and haulage industries, so that European tours can resume when it is safe to do so.
