Kerry McCarthy Labour MP for Bristol East
Check out this great anti-idling film which was commissioned by St George Breathing Better and filmed and produced in St George.
We can all make decisions which help improve local air quality, from switching off an idling car engine to choosing to travel sustainably – be it on foot, by bike or public transport, or in a less-polluting vehicle.
Bristol’s Clean Air Zone (CAZ) will come into force later this year. Older and more polluting vehicles will be charged to enter the city centre, where air pollution levels are at their worst. It’s good to see that buses, taxis and other vehicles in Bristol are already being upgraded. First Bus should have all of its buses complying with clean air standards by the time the CAZ goes live. There will be exemptions for some people, which you can check out on the Bristol City Council website.
