I was out in Two Mile Hill with the St George Central Labour team this morning and at the weekend.

This is one of the shopping areas that will benefit from the £5 million of funding that Bristol City Council is making available to improve our local high streets and encourage more people to shop locally.

Just up the road, over the Kingswood border, South Gloucestershire Council has introduced parking restrictions around its shops. As a result, drivers are parking in St George, and local people are finding it really difficult to park near their own homes. I fully support Nicola Beech and Steve Peace, who are standing for re-election as councillors in the ward, in their campaign to introduce similar parking restrictions in this part of St George. The local residents I’ve spoken to say that this is what they want, but of course there would be a full consultation first.
