From the Government ‘reconsidering’ rules to allow animal testing for cosmetic products, to the failure to enforce bans on ivory trading and the lack of progress on recognising the sentience of animals in UK law, it’s clear the Government would rather dither and delay than take animal welfare seriously.

Now Parliament has returned from the summer recess, Labour will continue to push for progress at every opportunity and oppose any attempts by the Government to water down protections.
