This week at Environment, Food and Rural Affairs questions, I asked the Minister what the Government is doing to rewild our seas and restore blue carbon sinks – such as oyster reefs, kelp forests, sea grass and salt marshes.

The Minister replied that the Government doesn’t have “enough data” on blue carbon yet, despite a wealth of scientific research already being available. As COP26 is now only days away, I feel we’ve missed a perfect opportunity to show global leadership on this issue.

This isn’t all I’ve done to promote rewilding our seas this week. I also joined @mcsuk for the launch of their Blue Carbon Champions group in Parliament, which I am delighted to be a part of: https://www.mcsuk.org/…/blue-carbon-champions-group…/
