Yesterday morning I visited Hillfields Community Garden , along with Ellie King (local Councillor/ Cabinet member for Communities), Rob Acton-Campbell (Chair of Trustees for Your Park Bristol and Bath) and one of the volunteers, Sarah Hanson.

I was really impressed by the efforts Sarah and others have put into creating the Community Garden and finding imaginative ways to ensure the whole community can make use of the space, be that encouraging kids to play outside and discover the wonders of nature in their mini-explorers club, or giving adults somewhere to escape the pressures of everyday life. It was exciting to hear about future plans for the project, including planting an orchard in a ward that has fewer trees than almost anywhere else in the city, and putting in more beds, and I’m very keen to support them in whatever way I can.

They are trying to enlist the help of more volunteers to help run groups, see here to get involved.
