This week, in Parliament, I asked the Government about recent revelations that the Transport Secretary – who notoriously flies his own private jet – is using departmental funds to lobby against developments on private airfields.

Shockingly, that includes opposing a new battery gigafactory for electric vehicles at Coventry airport.

I asked the Minister how we will be able to decarbonise our transport sector when the Secretary of State responsible for it is opposing factories for electric vehicle components? His response was not convincing.
