The reports that the Prime Minister himself attended a party in Downing Street at the height of the lockdown restrictions in May 2020 are absolutely indefensible.

Today, the Prime Minister didn’t even have the guts to show up for Labour’s Urgent Question on this. Instead, he sent an unknown junior Minister out to do his dirty work for him.

I read out examples of my constituents who suffered personal tragedies during lockdown and were unable to be with their loved ones during the most difficult of circumstances. They suffered while the Prime Minister partied.
People are right to be angry about the insulting hypocrisy from this Prime Minister and his repeated falsehoods to the House. We don’t need an inquiry to tell us whether the Prime Minister attended this party; he ought to come clean at Prime Minister’s Questions tomorrow and tell us himself.

If you would like to let me know what sacrifices you made during lockdowns while Downing Street was partying, then you can contact my office at: kerry.mccarthy.mp@parliament.uk

I will be writing to the Prime Minister and demanding an apology on behalf of each and every one of you.
