I’ve recently been contacted by a constituent who is in her third year of studying medicine in Ukraine, having grown up in Bristol East. She’s now been forced to leave Ukraine due to the Russian invasion.

UK students who were studying in Ukraine have not just had the trauma of escaping a war zone and the fear of no longer having a university to return to. Some have now been told they can’t take up their studies at British universities as there aren’t enough places for them.

I have written to the Education Secretary to ask him to help such students to find places in UK universities. Given what they’ve been through, I don’t think this is too much to ask.
