I’ve joined 100 women MPs in signing the letter below to the Prime Minister, urging that sexual assault and rape survivors should be able to access counselling and support without it harming their court cases.

The Attorney General’s plans to change guidance on disclosure of ‘third-party-information’ like counselling notes leave rape survivors vulnerable to having their notes used against them in court. This is completely unacceptable at a time when rape prosecutions have plummeted to a historic low of 1.3%.

I’m pleased to see so many Labour MPs sign this letter and I hope this guidance can be amended before it comes into effect in July.
