In this month’s Fishponds Voice column, I talk about my recent visit to Glenside Museum on Blackberry Hill along with my recent work in Parliament on suicide prevention.
Glenside Museum provides a fascinating account of mental health treatment through the ages, much of which was pioneered in Bristol. We’ve come a long way since then, but could do so much better. We need properly resourced mental health services, tailored to individual needs, and an end to long waiting lists. Too many lives have been lost to suicide because the help wasn’t there when people needed it.
If you haven’t visited Glenside, I’d highly recommend it. You can book your visit here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/…/glenside-hospital-museum….
