I was on BBC Politics West over the weekend reviewing Labour Conference and responding to Liz Truss’s latest attempt to justify tax cuts for the rich and benefit cuts for the poor.

She crashed the economy in pursuit of an outdated ideology that exists solely to provide incentives for the rich. The fact Chancellor Kwarteng could be found drinking champagne that very night with investors who had bet against the pound, enriching themselves at the expense of everyday workers, is the perfect reflection of trickle-down economics and this current Tory regime.

Truss has U-turned on the 45p top rate of tax since my appearance on Politics West, but the damage has already been done. The Chancellor’s admission to Tory Conference yesterday that his economic plan had caused ‘a little turbulence’, was met with laughter. But as mortgages and rents skyrocket in response, this is no laughing matter.
There’s now talk of Tory MPs rebelling over benefit cuts and fracking. While they’re at it they could do us all a favour and demand the Chancellor scraps his whole mini budget!
