This week in Parliament, I made clear that we need to see a full, permanent ban on fracking – not just putting it on hold, which is all that the new Prime Minister has promised.

Even though Labour won the battle to stop fracking going ahead, the reality is that this Government cannot be trusted to stick to its manifesto commitments and still has the power to unilaterally impose fracking on communities without a vote in Parliament.

Labour will continue to push for a permanent ban on fracking and for more support for cleaner, cheaper alternatives, like onshore wind and solar power.
