Amid numerous Cabinet resignations, I was in the Commons this morning for International Trade Questions. Local businesses have told me that they were invited to meet Secretary of State Liam Fox – providing they didn’t talk about Brexit! They were also told that the same conditions applied if they wanted to meet the Brexit Secretary (not the one that’s just resigned, the one before that).
I took the opportunity to ask Mr Fox – whose constituency is North Somerset – whether he’d meet with Bristol businesses to answer the question on everybody’s lips: what the hell is going on? I even offered to pay the £1 bridge toll! Sadly, Mr Fox declined my offer, maybe because he knows he won’t be in Cabinet by the end of the day.
