Kerry McCarthy Labour MP for Bristol East
This morning, following the publication of the latest in a line of many reports detailing how our food systems are causing damage both to public health and to our environment (which you can read more about here: https://bit.ly/2Df7xWM) I asked George Eustice, the Minister of State for Farming, if the Government will ever start listening to and acting upon these reports.
I have been raising the need for successive governments to drive policy changes to address the damage caused by diets high in things like red meat and sugar for more than a decade now. As the Speaker says at the end of this clip, ‘banging on’ tends to be a prerequisite of achieving anything, so I will continue to do so until the Government listens.
