Labour’s Environment Secretary, Sue Hayman, declared a national climate and environment emergency in the House of Commons last week and challenged the Government to do the same. Sadly it has refused.

With wildlife in decline, habitats being destroyed and climate change progressing at an alarming rate, maintaining the status quo simply isn’t good enough. We need urgent action to reverse the current crisis and a plan to restore the natural world.

Sue’s announcement follows the nationwide youth climate school strike in March and a wave of motions passed by local councils, including here in Bristol, declaring a climate emergency.
