Kinship carers – most often grandparents, aunts, and uncles – make a huge contribution to our society by stepping in to look after children when their parents are unable to do so – yet most are not getting the support they need. Earlier this year, I chaired a meeting in Bristol on behalf of the Kinship Care Parliamentary Taskforce, where I had the opportunity to meet with kinship carers and hear their concerns first hand. I remain committed to improving support for kinship carers and their families and am pleased to pledge my support for them this Carers Week.
