Today marks the first national RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) Day, a celebration of the excellent work that goes on in schools and communities, helping children and young people learn about healthy relationships and positive sexual health. The principles of RSE Day include keeping children safe, providing enjoyable and useful RSE lessons, and supporting RSE to happen in school and at home.

I believe it’s vital that children and young people are taught about healthy relationships, respect, and consent from an early age, so that they are well-informed about their rights as they grow up. I am especially glad that updated Governmental regulations on RSE are also LGBT-inclusive – it is only right that all young people are made aware of the wide variety of relationships and family models that exist today.
