Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Bill

The long awaited Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Bill finally had its Second Reading this week. I spoke in the debate, and will also be serving on the Bill committee, which will meet before the Commons rises for the summer recess. The Bill is very welcome, in that it increases prison sentences for the worst cases of animal cruelty from six months to five years, which, I know from my inbox, many of my constituents, who care deeply about animal welfare, will support.
