Wick House

Today, during an Urgent Question on the deaths of homeless people, I asked Housing Minister, Luke Hall, to take on board the findings of the Charity Commission (CC) investigation into Wick House, where several residents died and the CC found evidence of misconduct and mismanagement. The currently unregulated nature of supported housing allows exploitative landlords to take advantage of vulnerable people and provide hostels which are not fit for purpose. I am pleased to hear that the Minister has been discussing this issue with his officials and will be updating me. Oversight of supported housing is urgently required, and I hope the Government will commit to introducing this as soon as possible.
