Cabinet Office Questions

Food poverty is already an issue for too many people, but the Government’s own analysis, Operation Yellowhammer, says that food prices will rise if there is a no-deal Brexit and some food – particularly healthy, fresh food – could be in short supply. Low-income groups would be disproportionately affected by any price rises, and a coalition of food charities, including FareShare, has said they are dismayed at the lack of no-deal support for vulnerable groups. At Cabinet Office Questions today, I asked Michael Gove what the Government is doing about this, and whether he is talking to schools, hospitals, and frontline charities about how they would cope in the event of a no-deal Brexit.
