After canvassing this morning in Eastville I took the opportunity to check out Bristol’s first Rapid Charging Hub in Eastville Park. As one of the growing numbers of electric car drivers – and not being able to charge it at home – this was quite exciting! This is just the first of the new charging points that will be rolled out across Bristol by the Council. Nationally, Labour has promised in its manifesto to invest in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and in electric community car clubs, and will stop the sale of any new diesel and petrol vehicles after 2030, bringing it forward, on advice from the Committee on Climate Change, from the Tories’ unambitious plans for a phase-out by 2040.

I also spoke to the TCV – Trust of Conservation Volunteers – who meet every Friday morning to carry out work in the park, and caught up with Friends of Eastville Park, who are holding a “Santa’s Grotto on The Green” event on Sunday 8th of December. I’ll be popping in – hope to see you there!
