The Australian bushfires and the climate crisis

Earlier today I was shocked that in the Minister’s statement to the House of Commons on the terrible Australian bushfires, she did not mention climate change once. This shows how low the climate crisis is on this Government’s agenda. She appeared absolutely baffled when Labour MPs started asking her questions about it, and had to look through her folder for a response. Later on she claimed that 75% of the fires were the result of arson, which is the line being peddled by climate change deniers in Australia. It should be clear to the Government, and to everyone, that the Australian bushfires are a result of the world failing to adequately tackle climate change. Australia needs to commit to decarbonisation now, and play its role in tackling the climate emergency.
