Today at Transport Questions, I pressed the Minister about the fact that emissions from international aviation and shipping are not currently included in UK carbon targets.

The independent Committee on Climate Change has urged the Government to formally include them in the Sixth Carbon Budget, which will be agreed soon and will cover the period 2033-37, but instead the Government is relying on progress in international talks that won’t be concluded any time soon.

This delay means we could be waiting years before we see the Government finally taking responsibility for and reducing emissions from international aviation and shipping.
