Earlier today the Communities, Housing and Local Government Secretary, Robert Jenrick, gave a statement on the latest rough sleeping statistics.

Despite the Government’s “Everyone In” initiative during the first lockdown, the number of rough sleepers is still up by more than half on 2010.

I asked the Secretary of State about the quality of “supported housing” provided to vulnerable people coming in off the streets. Too often, rough sleepers end up in substandard accommodation and miss out on crucial support that they need, ending up back on the streets as a result.

I am closely following the pilot schemes he mentions, as we have one here in Bristol, and will be taking the Secretary up on his offer of a meeting where I will continue to push for action to improve standards, as I have been doing with my Supported Housing (Regulation) Bill.
