This week, in an Urgent Question about tackling violence against women and girls, I asked the Home Office Minister – who used to be my opposite number in the Department for Transport – when we would see progress on making our streets and transport networks safer spaces for women.

It has now been over six months since the devastating murder of Sarah Everard, but the Government is moving at a snail’s pace and is yet to take any meaningful action to stop the public sexual harassment and violence that affects so many women.

The Minister claimed that the Government would be responding in a ‘speedy way’ with proposals. But the laughter in the House at that claim says it all.

Watch here.
