It was great to attend the Kids Count Awards in Parliament yesterday and to see Children Heard and Seen receive the Directors Choice Award: such a well-deserved win!

What we now need to see is funding for this incredible charity to be able to expand, nationwide, so that it can identify and support many more children with a parent or caregiver in prison. I hope that winning the award will bring increased awareness of the work Children Heard and Seen does, and a recognition that such children need support.

Earlier in the day I facilitated a meeting between the charity and another brilliant initiative – Commission on Young Lives, led by the former Children’s Commissioner, Anne Longfield. It was a really productive meeting, and it was good to hear a firm commitment to work together in future.
