This weekend (December 1st-3rd) The Trussell Trust is holding its regular Christmas food bank collection at Tesco stores. I spent some time helping out at the Eastville store and, as always it was heart-warming to see just how generous Tesco customers were with their donations. Tesco will be topping up customer donations with an additional 20% donation to the charities in cash to aid them in their work.

I also went to the FareShare South West depot in St Judes for a catch up. I was told about their award-winning “Surplus with Purpose” initiative – and their employability project which will be launching in Bristol very soon.

As the cost-of-living crisis bites, charities like the Trussell Trust and Fare Share are – sadly – needed more than ever. If you’re visiting a Tesco store this weekend please look out for the food bank volunteers.
