This week, during a debate on fossil fuels and the cost of living, I made clear that we must urgently end our reliance on expensive, polluting fossil fuels.
Eye-watering oil and gas prices have driven the cost-of-living crisis, but if we had acted sooner to develop more cheap, clean renewable energy and to insulate homes then we would not be in such a bad situation. Now the UK is facing one of the worst recessions in the G7 and the biggest fall in living standards since records began.

Labour will act where the Government has failed. By insulating 19 million homes within a decade, delivering a clean power system by 2030 and establishing a publicly-owned renewable energy generator to achieve this – because it is cheaper to save the planet than to destroy it.
