Earlier this week I raised the plight of hospitality businesses in Bristol. I made reference to Newtown Park Brewery Company which was forced to stop production over the Christmas period, after reading this Bristol 24/7 article.

With energy and supply costs escalating, the sacrifices made during the pandemic now look set to have .been fruitless for many small businesses. They thought they’d survived – many only just – but have now been hit by this new crisis. I called for more certainty and clarity regarding what helps is available, with the cliff-edge of support looming at the start of April.
The Minister’s decision to blame train strikes for the closures of pubs, restaurants, and breweries was as baffling as it is untrue. He was clearly desperate to deflect from his Government’s failure to get on top of the numerous challenges facing hospitality. Bristol businesses deserve better.
