As an electric vehicle driver who can’t charge at home, I know the constant frustration of being unable to find a working charger or having to queue to access the ones which do work.

Across Bristol over a third of people can’t charge at home. This rises to 72% in Bristol West, which covers the city centre and inner-city wards.

But the reality is that the number of new public charging points being installed is simply not keeping up with the number of electric vehicles on our roads.

Whilst the increased uptake in electric vehicles is something to celebrate, people will be put off purchasing them if they know they’ll struggle to find a place to charge. The Government urgently needs to step up and ensure chargers are easy to find and reliable to use.
