As I said in my post yesterday, this Government is missing an opportunity to properly invest in our car manufacturing industry. One of the key causes, as I explain in the clip below, is delays connecting to the National Grid. The UK faces the largest queue to connect to the Grid of any country in Europe.
The Chief Executive of Ofgem Jonathan Brearley criticised the current situation just yesterday warning that “Poor connection speeds risk undermining us creating a net zero electricity system, protecting consumers from high and volatile gas prices and ultimately securing energy security and independence.”
I pressed the Minister on this, and was pleased to hear her say it was a priority. But that means nothing unless the Government tells us what it actually intends to do. Labour has a fully worked-up Industrial Strategy; the Government can’t tell us from one day to the next what its plans are
